API BALAM is a company belonging to the group BALAM Agriculture, with the experience and expertise of a national and international leader in the agriculture of the future, and since its creation, it has had over 25,000 hectares of integrated production under its guidance in Andalusia and Extremadura. It boasts a multidisciplinary team of 12 highly qualified technicians, mostly Agricultural Engineers, but also Forestry Engineers, Environmental Engineers, or Law graduates. The four areas in which API BALAM leads the sector are integrated production consultancy, certification consulting for agri-food quality, comprehensive projects for agricultural sustainability and management of incentivized projects focused on knowledge transfer and the development of sustainability solutions for agriculture. Alongside its work in these sectors, the association has developed a "Rural Innovation Hub" model that promotes synergy among knowledge, agriculture, innovation, and businesses, allowing each to find its opportunities in the sector. The Rural Innovation Hub facilitates validation and demonstration trials of promoted innovative solutions and serves as a hub for the involvement of farmers, science and technology, and society in general, thanks to training and awareness actions in innovative areas.
Role within RURACTIVE
BALAM API is one of the Dynamos in charge of creating a Multi-Actors Rural Innovation Ecosystem. In the case of BALAM API, the target groups for which to create this ecosystem are young and older women, minorities, local producers and communities. The aim will be to establish tourism based on nature and culture and to improve agro-ecological and agri-food practices.
