The Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH) is a public vocational university with a strong national and international profile, founded in 1997. Through its seven different departments, BFH offers training, continuing education and research in a variety of subjects. The School of Agricultural, Forest and Food Sciences (HAFL) in Zollikofen is one of the departments. It continuously adapts its teaching, research, consulting and education in the fields of agricultural, forest and food sciences to meet new developments in the economy and society. BFH-HAFL aims to be a green university par excellence and a pioneer in sustainable development in land use and the agri-food industry.
Role within RURACTIVE
In RURACTIVE, Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH-HAFL) is coordinating a work package on Upgraded Learning, Capacity Building, and Knowledge Transfer Approaches for Smart Rural Communities. Special focus is dedicated to understanding learning needs and gaps, as well as competences and capacities needed for enhancing rural community-led innovation, e.g. digital and technological, technical, social, organisational and governance, as well as financial and business models.
The team at BFH-HAFL is also leading a task on facilitating multilevel knowledge and competence transfer among RURACTIVE Technical Partners and Dynamos, focusing on peer-to-peer knowledge transfer among RURACTIVE Dynamos.
Additionally, BFH-HAFL is responsible for leading activities on co-creating smart, community-led solutions within the RURACTIVE Dynamo Törbel-Moosalpregion.
