BIOAZUL
BIOAZUL is a technological consultancy and engineering SME focused on the development of co innovative solutions for water management (wastewater treatment and water reuse).
BIOAZUL has two main business lines. Firstly, BIOAZUL offers tailored industrial and urban water and wastewater treatment solutions based on technologies resulting from our R&D and innovation projects. Our aim is to integrate sustainability at an environmental and economic level, achieve energy efficiency and place our know-how at the service of the client to offer the most competitive solutions. Secondly, BIOAZUL offers an integrated consultancy service, acting as a catalyst and promoter of R&D and innovation projects of strategic interest with high market potential. We offer our services to companies, universities, technology centres and public authorities in a variety of industries (agriculture, foodstuffs, water and waste treatment, energy efficiency and the green economy, among others), for whom innovation is a key factor for competitiveness and growth.
Since its creation in 2003, BIOAZUL has become a leading technological consultancy in Southern Europe in R&D&I and international collaboration projects, and has an extensive experience in European R&D&I projects. During this time, BIOAZUL participated in 2 PRIMA projects, 3 Erasmus+ projects, 7 Horizon Europe projects, 15 H2020 projects, 16 FP7 projects, 14 FP6 projects, 2 IEE Programme projects and 1 CIP Eco-Innovation project.
At BIOAZUL we prioritise projects aimed at:
- Supporting on the resolution of societal challenges, especially those related to the sustainable management and use of natural resources.
- Supporting co-operation among key stakeholders in order to improve technology, research and development, and innovation for its implementation.
- Introducing eco-innovative technologies, products and services developed by BIOAZUL into the market (green economy). Innovative and efficient management concepts for energy and material flows at urban, peri-urban and rural levels (circular economy, urban mines, W2R).
Role within RURACTIVE
BIOAZUL participates in sustainable education and training, climate change and specific RDDs in relation to: Energy transition and climate neutrality, sustainable agri-food systems and ecosystems management as well as nature-based and cultural tourism. Also, regarding the cross-cutting topics of climate change mitigation and adaptation, social justice and inclusion and biodiversity. BIOAZUL will also share their expertise in relation with different types of innovations such as digital and technological, technical, social and organisational and financial and business.
More specifically, BIOAZUL provides to the consortium technical expertise related to climate change mitigation and adaptation being the Climate Change Advisor, supporting the Consortium in mainstreaming diversity, equity and inclusion principles along the entire implementation of the project as well as in ensuring the climate neutrality of the proposed innovations.
BIOAZUL is also responsible for developing training and capacity sharing material to empower Dynamos and support for the knowledge transfer events, together with the rest of the partners involved. On this task, we translate knowledge developed in other work areas and make it available to RURACTIVE Dynamos and all other interested rural communities, making easy-to-understand booklets and learning modules around the six RDDs, the cross-cutting priorities and the different types of innovations.
