Energicentrum Gotland enables people and businesses on Gotland to transit to an efficient and sustainable energy system.

Our ambition
Our mission is to raise the general knowledge and at the same time accelerate the energytransition.

We aim to increase cooperation and sharing of services and vehicles in Gotland's rural areas. We also want to promote innovative thinking and the courage for people to challenge their ingrained patterns in everyday life.

Gotland aims to lead the way in the energy transition in Sweden. Our goal is to involve residents of the Gotland rural areas so that more people feel commitment to influencing and being part of the energy transition.

This makes us unique
Gotland's status as an island significantly contributes to its unique position in Sweden's energy transition efforts. Being an island adds distinct challenges and opportunities for achieving energy self-sufficiency and sustainability. Islands often have limited access to the mainland's energy grid and resources, making local energy solutions more critical. This necessity drives innovation and the implementation of integrated, sustainable energy systems tailored to the island's specific conditions.

Gotland's initiatives reflect this unique context by focusing on renewable energy, such as wind and solar power, and exploring innovative solutions like biogas for heating and transportation fuel. The commitment to becoming a completely renewable energy system by 2040, as part of the broader "VĂ¥rt Gotland 2040" regional development strategy, underscores the ambition to leverage Gotland's insularity for environmental and economic benefits.
