Empowering rural communities to act for change

Technology Centre CARTIF

CARTIF is a horizontal, private and non-profit research institution, whose main mission is providing innovative solutions to the industry to enhance their processes, systems and products, improving their competitiveness and creating new business opportunities.

It works in multiple knowledge fields focused on many economic sectors: energy, food, industry, construction and infrastructure, health and environment, addressing research lines oriented to the main societal challenges, such as industry 4.0, smart grids, smart cities, energy efficiency, cultural heritage, quality of life, circular economy, natural resources and biotechnology.

Role within RURACTIVE

The main role of CARTIF in RURACTIVE is coordinating the development of a set of open data-driven tools: the Data Manager System, the Decision Support Tool and the Adaptive Monitoring Tool. CARTIF is also in charge of setting up the monitoring programme by defining a comprehensive set of key perfomance indicators and early warning indicators. The goal of the Adaptive Monitoring Tool, that CARTIF is developing, is to evaluate the implementation and effectiveness of the smart solutions for the RIEs. Continuous monitoring of solutions, mid-term evaluation, and final impact assessment of developed action plans are the main expected results from the project.
